Hey y'all! It is time for June's giveaway. TELL ALL YOUR FRIENDS because, folks, this is a good one. Up for June's giveaway is a brand new item from the Pretty Good Things studio! That's right - BRAND NEW. As in - you can't even buy this baby (YET).

This headband is a $20.00 value and is made of espresso colored super soft deerskin. On one end of the 3/16" wide x 36" long headband is a shaped peacock feather, a brass bead and matching lime embroidery thread lacing its way down the band. On the other end has three brass beads and a green turquoise doughnut shaped bead.

See how happy you could be wearing this beauty? I am SUPER happy! just look at me:

I made this headband with summer in mind. As I was making it I thought back on all of the great summer memories I have from my childhood... eating Now and Laters at the pool...playing outside until the streetlights came on...pretending our back porch was a spaceship...family vacations to Colorado...catching lightning bugs...camping out in the backyard...looking for rolly pollies under rocks...I thought that for this giveaway I'll ask everyone to share a few memories, or just one memorable moment, or a funny story from your childhood summers.

Enter to win for yourself or to give as a present. It isn't your style? Well, your besty would probably really love to get a little surprise in the mail!

Here are the rules:

1) The contest is open to anyone in the world!
(please note that any participants outside the USA will need to cover any customs, duties, fees, taxes, etc. that their country may impose)

2) To have your name entered in the contest here's what you do:
  • leave a comment about some of the good childhood memories from your summers on this post.
3) The contest closes at Midnight Sunday. June 28!

4) The winner's name will be randomly generated at Random.org. I will post the name of the winner on Monday June 29, 2009. If you leave your email in the comment - or if it is linked via your blogger profile, etc...then I'll be able to email you right away! If you don't want to leave your email for all to see - - don't worry you can still participate - - but you'll need to check back if you are the lucky winner
(so be sure to bookmark - - or better yet, subscribe to this blog!).

Easy peasy, right? Good Luck! I can't wait to hear your stories!

I feel bad entering again, since I won an awesome drawing last time, but here it goes:

I have childhood summer memories of going to either World's of Fun or Adventureland on Memorial Day weekend and being too scared to ride some of the roller coasters, but loving the dancing Rainbow Bright and the kiddie rides.

OH! even last month's winners can enter again! I am not like that one radio station in Lincoln that asks people to not enter their contests so other people have chances...come on! If you're lucky - you're lucky!

Many memories of my childhood involve long car rides to my Grandparents house. I would take a little tote of toys and play in the car [it was a time before portable DVD players]. Then when we would get to my Grandparents house my Grandma would always have an ice cream bar waiting for us kids. Then my Grandma and I would play tea party with homemade cookies and milk. She passed away this last summer, but she will live forever through the memories.

Gorgeous headband (and so my style!).

One of my favorite childhood memories of summer is of arriving at my grandmother's camp at the beginning of summer break.
The one hour ride out there seemed to take DAYS!
When we finally pulled up the long driveway, all I wanted to do was put on my swimsuit and run down the dock into the water (but my family of spoilsports made us unpack first, every time!).
I would love to feel that rush of simple anticipation again.

Very cute headband!

One of my favorite childhood summer memories is of the summer the kids who lived on my street and I built and re-built a tree house in the empty lot on the street. There was a stack of discarded building materials on the lot, and we spent the whole summer figuring out different ways to assemble a tree house out of them - no nails or hammers, completely makeshift. In the end, we managed to put together a two-story house in the tree.

One of my favorite summer childhood memories is of playing in the creek behind my parent's house. I always got in trouble for it too because my mom was worried I would get sick from the water. I also played in the creek in the commons area in cripple creek. We would always try to catch frogs.

My favorite summer memories? Oh, gosh...too many! Waiting by the door for the sound of the ice cream truck...

But my favorite was swimming until I couldn't move, then flopping onto my towel until I dried out and started to fry in the sun, then cannonballing back into the pool when I started to crisp! Ah, heart attacks!;)

That headband is amazing, by the way!

MARY!
Love your Blog - I'm bummed I missed your graduate exhibition in Lincoln, I was heading there the week after it closed :(
But Love the headband!

Summer vacation - my family used to take these massive camping trips across different states. I didn't bring the right shoes to go horse back riding so I wore my pink jellies.

Thanks Mary!
